Catrina D. Cooley – Flagg born in Boston Mass, attended college at Wilmington University in New Castle Delaware where she studied criminal Justice and sociology. Catrina then returned to Boston and worked as a correctional officer at MCI Framingham. It was there Catrina found her passion in working with a disenfranchised population. She then continued to work in corrections by providing case management and counseling to state felons at Hillside pre-release and the Brooke House. Catrina then continued with her education at the University of Massachusetts where she studied psychology. Catrina then accepted the position as the Director of Short-Term Treatment program for the Suffolk County House of correction.
After working in corrections Catrina focused on Drugs and Alcohol as well as HIV and AIDS. Catrina studied under the tutelage of Francis Brisbane where she became certified in Drug and Alcohol Counseling from the National Black Alcohol Institute.
Catrina has been fortunate to work at the AIDS Action Committee for more than 8 years when she has provided client and prevention services.
Catrina served as program coordinator at the Multicultural AIDS Coalition. Where she continued to fight and eradicate to tear down the barriers in our community that enhanced the strategic AIDS virus. Catrina has worked for the Multicultural AIDS Coalition for 13 years and has contributed to the MAC ‘s mission in mobilizing communities color to end the epidemic of HIV and AIDS. Over the last 3 years Catrina has worked at the Boston Public Health Commission as the Program Manager of Community Affairs. Where she spends most of her time managing many community programs. Catrina is presently leading strategic planning with the Nubian Task Force. Her leadership has created many avenues that have successfully connected disadvantaged homeless populations. Catrina continues to work within Boston communities to decrease health disparities.
Catrina has also worked with Actor Danny Glover advocating for voter’s rights. Making sure this happens in communities of color was the goal of the Voter Corps initiative led by Kevin Peterson and Danny Glover.
Catrina has also collaborated with her professional work experience and with her love and passion for her music. Behind The ScenZeZ Health Upbeat is the company created by Catrina which brings health education to music entertainment venues.
Not limited but Catrina is also able to vote in the Grammy Awards because of her love for music. Being lead to sing gospel music and on more six music tracks on Freda Battle and The Temple Worshippers CD Serious Praise as a new project called How Glorious. These accomplishments have only been led by God.
Catrina has a passion and that is to live till the day her children and her can see that HIV infections are at ZERO, and drug overdose has ended .
