Gilbert White Jr is an advocate, entertainer, saxophonist, tennis player, father and friend to many. Born in Boston MA, as a young person Gilbert travelled the country touring as a singer with the Ambitions, which was Boston’s most famous R&B group before New Edition. After facing his own struggles with addiction, Gilbert got clean and became an commited his life to advocacy for the community. He worked at the AIDS bureau at the Dept of Public health up until 1994 when that bureau was shifted under the BSAS (Bureau for Substance Abuse Services) at the DPH, where he was co-regional manager overseeing and supporting programs such as the FIRST program and many other residential programs. He retired in 2012 after 28 years of service and spends his time between tennis, dance classes, singing performances, playing the saxophone with the Diversions, and spending time with his family and loved ones.
