Christopher Worrell is the State Representative for the 5th Suffolk District of Massachusetts and a dedicated champion for Black substance abuse issues. Born in Dorchester to Jamaican and Barbadian immigrants, Worrell grew up with a strong sense of family and community advocacy. With extensive experience in state and city government, he is committed to promoting equity and engaging the community in the governing process.
In his first year in office, Worrell co-created the Mental Shift Workshop to support boys and men with their mental health, helping them transform their mindsets positively. Recognizing the importance of physical activity for overall well-being, he initiated sporting events to keep young kids active and healthy. These include a lacrosse workshop for 300 of Boston’s youth and a month-long boxing seminar promoting non-violence and healthy outlets for young boys and girls. Worrell also founded the ‘180 Degrees’ program, providing crucial support to at-risk youth and guiding them toward healthier lifestyle choices. Worrell has been instrumental in securing funding for community-based recovery programs, enhancing access to mental health services, and promoting education and awareness about substance use prevention.
Christopher and his wife, Suzette, are raising their three children, Carter, Savannah, and Simone, in Dorchester’s Grove Hall section. His love for family and his constituents drives him every day.
